Alberto and I had the pleasure of having dinner with the Tacherra family on February 16, Saturday night. Jim and Susan came to San Luis Obispo for the weekend from their farm in Bolinas to visit with their daughter, Elizabeth, who is currently attending Cuesta College in SLO. Happily, they brought one of their two sons, Jesse, and we were joined by Elizabeth's boyfriend, Tom. Their oldest son, Jacob is married and lives in Texas. (They have one child which makes Jim and Susan GRANDPARENTS. Wow.)

It has been several years since I last saw the Tacherras, at Jesse's bar mitzvah in Bolinas, so we mostly gossiped and tried to catch up on all the news. I'm afraid we weren't good company for anyone else at the table since Susan and I needed to talk! (I learned from Susan and Jim that Gwen, who ran THE SHOP in Bolinas passed away about 6 months ago, and Susan's mother passed away a few years ago.)

I have known Susan for 41 years and we went to school together at Florida Junior College and lived together in a hippy commune in Jacksonville, Florida 40 years ago. We have never stopped being loving friends. Here is a picture of Susan and I from back then:
